Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH and the Finnish company UPM-Kymmene Oyj, a leading company in the bio and forest industry (19,000 employees; EUR 10.5 billion annual sales), renewed their agreement on handling forest products once more. Anker Schiffahrt, the operator of a modern multi-purpose seaport terminal in the outer port of Emden, won the contract against tough national and international competition.
Anker Schiffahrt will again primarily handle pulp for UPM-Kymmene at the Emskai for several years and deliver it to national and international customers and the UPM Nordland Papier GmbH mill in Dörpen as required. The company acts as shipbroker for all pulp imports, as well as on board stevedore and warehouse keeper. In addition, the company will partly arrange on-carriage by barge, rail and truck as well as container stuffing.
By signing the contract, the two companies continue their cooperation, which started back in 1983. “We can look back on more than 35 years of a very good and trustful partnership, the contract renewal underlines this as well”, says Jörg Conrad, owner and CEO of the Leschaco Group and Managing Director of Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH.
Anker Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH is a 100 % owned subsidiary of Lexzau, Scharbau GmbH & Co. KG (Leschaco). The company is a well-known operator of a modern multi-purpose seaport terminal at the Emden outer harbour. Car transhipment, handling of forest products and individual solutions for maritime port services are their core business. Since the early 80s Anker Schiffahrt has also been operating its own agency for ships of all sizes and types.
