“100 years of navigation on the Rhine under the Swiss flag”

After taking a break of a few years, the Museum Verkehrsdrehscheibe will again be part of the Museum Night 2020. Under the theme “100 Years of Rhine Navigation under the Swiss Flag”, a special exhibition to mark the anniversary will be held on 17 January in the exhibition Verkehrsdrehscheibe Schweiz Hafen Basel-Kleinhüningen.
 
In the Museum Night information boards on MS Evolutie, a former cargo ship, will show the positive effects of the Rhine navigation acts (Mannheim Act of 1868 and the Treaty of Versailles in 1919) for the development of Swiss trade and shipping.
 
In this context, the Register of Shipping is a contemporary witness to the past 100 years. During the Museum Night, experienced port guides will give lectures on Rhine navigation and the Rhine ports to provide interested visitors with information and seaman’s yarn.
