Lower Austria and Vojvodina were among the founding members of “ARGE Donauländer”, stressed Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and confirmed that Vojvodina will take over the chairmanship for 2020/21 from Lower Austria. A common concern was above all the further development of the Danube as a sustainable transport route: “It is our aim that the Danube will be used more intensively as a sustainable transport route”.

The Governor also addressed the economic cooperation. Serbia and Vojvodina are important partners, and there are also numerous investments by Lower Austrian companies such as Doka and Agrana, Johanna Mikl-Leitner sees “still an incredible amount of potential”.

Prime Minister Igor Mirovic said it was “a great joy, that we as the province of Vojvodina will preside over the ARGE Donauländer in 2020/21. This will enable even more intensive contacts, for example in the fields of economy, technology and culture.” The development of the Danube as a transport route was also a special concern for him, he added.
