Regular transports of goods have started between the Cosco Shipping port Zeebrugge Terminal (CSP) and the Port of Duisburg. This means that the trilateral agreement for the new hinterland connection between duisport, CSP and the Belgium port of Zeebrugge (MBZ), which was approved in June of this year, has now been implemented.

The Port of Duisburg (duisport), Port of Zeebrugge (Belgium) and Cosco-Shipping Zeebrugge Terminal (CSP) will intensify their cooperation in the future. The trilateral agreement for the new hinterland connection in combined rail/road transport has now been implemented.

The Chinese company Cosco Shipping Lines recently expanded its activities as part of the “Belt & Road” initiative with two weekly maritime connections from China to Zeebrugge. A weekly rail shuttle will carry the goods between the Cosco Shipping Zeebrugge Terminal and the Duisburg Intermodal Terminal (DIT) at logport I in the port of Duisburg.

The operational aspects of the connection between Zeebrugge and the Port of Duisburg will be handled by duisport subsidiary duisport agency GmbH (dpa). dpa is the central marketing company for intermodal transport solutions, which also include the option of using duisport as an extended gate. In doing so, dpa relies on its longstanding experience in the segment of intermodal transport solutions.
