The new TransFER Vienna-Melzo will replace the TransFER Vienna-Piadena and expand the southbound service by adding two weekly services.
According to the group, the service is ideal for shifting transports from road to rail.
The TransFER Vienna-Melzo enables customers to transport dangerous goods safely. In addition, forwarding from Melzo to Bari/Ravenna/La Spezia/Lyon is possible with their partners.
“Thus we not only integrate important economic regions in Italy, but also provide an ideal logistics solution for continental transport units.” emphasises ÖBB Rail Cargo Group in a press release.
The Melzo terminal is in the catchment area of Milan, with good transport connections. The Wien Süd cargo centre, located directly on the southern route in Austria and on three trans-European rail corridors, also offers an ideal connection to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria as well as Slovakia.
With 8,500 employees, subsidiaries throughout Europe and an annual turnover of EUR 2.3 billion, the Rail Cargo Group ranks among Europe’s leading rail logistics companies. The end-to-end logistics network operated together with partners in Europe, links European conurbations and ports with prospering economic centres on the Eurasian continent.
