As part of its digitisation strategy, the Frankfurt-based intermodal company Kombiverkehr KG has launched another modern application for its freight forwarding and logistics customers. As announced at this year’s shareholders’ meeting, the pilot project “Train-Monitor” started earlier this month with the publication of real-time information in combined transport.
The test version available online shows the geographical position / last reporting point as well as current timetable deviations of all Kombiverkehr direct and shuttle trains to selected terminals. An essential function of the new online application is the information about the Estimated Time of Pick-Up (ETP) of the load unit at the destination terminal.
Kombiverkehr thus puts into practice the results developed by the “ELETA” project funded by the European Union on the subject of arrival forecasts for all customers. “This closes one of the biggest information gaps in the intermodal supply chain, and thus meets our customers’ demands for more transparency in intermodal transport,” managing director Armin Riedl explains the special need for this information project.
Customers will receive route information throughout Europe for all Kombiverkehr’s own transports, such as between Germany and Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Poland, as well as for national transport within Germany. “On the basis of various arrival forecasts of the network operators and railway companies, the Kombiverkehr transport monitoring employees together with the respective terminal operator can calculate the Estimated Time of Pick-Up at the destination terminal and make it visible to all customers in the new application in case of a deviation from the scheduled time”, adds Riedl.
