On 4th June 2019 at the transport logistic in Munich, Bernd Pahnke, Managing Director of TFG Transfracht, presented the “Klimabilanz”-certificate to Norbert Dierks, responsible for sustainability / CO2 control in transport logistics for inbound and international transport of the BMW Group. With this TÜV-checked certificate, TFG certifies the use of Eco Plus from renewable electricity for the BMW Group, and thus a 100 per cent CO2-free rail transport.
For the BMW transports on the Dingolfing, Wackersdorf and Wallersdorf routes, a further 5,154 tonnes of CO2 were saved in 2018 compared to conventional rail transport. A truck transport would have released 13,394 tonnes of CO2. Together, they achieved an increase in Co2 savings of around 3 per cent compared to 2017.
“We are delighted to have made this important contribution to climate protection together with the BMW Group over the past three years and to continue to do so in the future. As a rail operator, we operate the main run on the rail, which, when using Eco Plus, avoids 100 per cent of CO2 emissions compared to transport by truck. We are setting a good example in terms of ‘green logistics’,” said Bernd Pahnke.
