Since April, containers can be loaded and unloaded at Rhenus Donauhafen Krems in a weatherproof way. For this purpose, the port logistics provider now has a lightweight hall of more than 1,700 m² available. This borders on the Metrans container terminal.
“The covered lightweight warehouse is a sensible investment and makes our location even more attractive. In the current year, we expect new business in the areas of general cargo, bulk goods and containers. In addition, we would like to expand our customs clearance services in 2019,” says Gerhard Gussmagg, Managing Director of Rhenus Donauhafen Krems.
The new building has a full gantry crane with a span of 20 meters. It has a load capacity of ten tonnes and a hook height of 7.50 meters and can be moved on crane rails. The hall crane can also efficiently move and store long products such as steel tubes and sections.
The warehouse has three sliding doors as well as a roller shutter gate, each eight meters long and six meters wide. For the first time, containers can be loaded or unloaded at the roller shutter door, in a weatherproof way. Outdoor stowage or under a canopy thus becomes unnecessary. The goods that are handled in the hall include, for example, steel goods, machine parts, big bags and consumer goods.
The hall is located in the immediate vicinity of the Metrans container terminal. This way, the paths between the hall and the container terminal can be covered in a short time by reach stackers. The port of Krems is linked to Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Koper via block train services within the Metrans network.
The Rhenus Group is a globally operating logistics service provider with 29,000 employees at 619 locations and an annual turnover of EUR 4.8 billion. The company combines three business units: Contract Logistics, Freight Logistics and Port Logistics.
