Gebrüder Weiss strives for a continuous expansion of all service areas in Tyrol. The focus is on intermodal transports, services for the automotive and heavy industry as well as the expansion of the platform function for Italientransporte. For example, train solutions such as the Orange Combi Cargo (OCC) are to be expanded at the Hall location.
The Gebrüder Weiss block train commutes daily between Terminal Wien Süd and the stations in Hall and Bludenz / Vorarlberg and celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2018. In total, 22,000 truck journeys are shifted from road to rail each year, saving 11,000 tonnes of CO2.
Günter Schmarl will take over the management of the Gebrüder Weiss branch in Tirol on January 1, 2019. He replaces Hannes Mayr, the long-standing branch manager, who in a further career step moves to the top of the western region of the transport and logistics company.
Günter Schmarl has been with Gebrüder Weiss for more than 30 years and as a departmental and later division manager he quickly took on leadership responsibility. Since 2009, he has been in charge of international land transport. As branch manager, he will in future be responsible for the three Gebrüder Weiss locations in Halle, Wörgl and Innsbruck, which belong to the Tyrol area, and employ around 250 people.
For twelve years, Hannes Mayr was the head of Gebrüder Weiss Tirol. He was thus instrumental in ensuring that the company developed well in the region and established itself there as a full-service logistics company. For him, the biggest challenge was to turn the GW brand from a medium-sized company into a market leader in Tyrol. ”
As Regional Manager West, Hannes Mayr’s task in the future is to further strengthen and expand its market leadership. The West region of Gebrüder Weiss consists of the economically profitable areas of Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Switzerland.
With around 7,000 employees, 150 company-owned locations and an annual turnover of 1.55 billion euros (2017), Gebrüder Weiss is one of the leading transport and logistics service providers in Europe. In Tyrol, the company has been represented in Tyrol since the 1950s. The forwarding and logistics facility in Hall has been continuously expanded since 2005 and has a direct rail connection.
