“Logistics knows no bounds. Factors such as internationality, connectivity and excellence in dealing with complexity are crucial to success, and the reason why Austrian logistics services are known worldwide,” emphasised Richard Schenz, Vice President of the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKÖ), at the Austrian Logistics Forum, held on the November 26th in the WKÖ’s Sky Lounge.
Among other things, the event focused on informing about the Austrian Logistic” umbrella brand and highlighting the added value for companies from trade, industry and transport. The umbrella brand was launched in April this year by the Austrian Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Technology (BMVIT) together with WKÖ, the Federation of Austrian Indiustries (IV) and the logistics associations BVL, VNL and ZV. Their aim is to market the services of the industry also abroad.
Today, 11,000 companies in the domestic logistics industry directly employ 160,000 people and generate sales of around EUR 34 billion. Every euro of added value in the logistics industry secures up to four euros in total added value. “This shows the importance of domestic logistics, which ensures that the Austrian industry is able to deliver outstanding performance at home and abroad,” emphasises Richard Schenz.
The reasons for the success of the industry are not least the favorable conditions. “Austria offers excellent conditions for logistics: siutated in the heart of Europe, it is a junction of several important transcontinental traffic corridors. Stable economic and political conditions, safety, reliable transport systems as well as first-class infrastructure and research are the basis for excellence in logistics. These location assets are the core of our new umbrella brand”, says Franz Schwammenhöfer, Logistics Officer of the BMVIT.
