Governor Hans Niessl, the Provincial Councilor for Economic Affairs and Tourism Alexander Petschnig, the Managing Director of the Burgenland Economy Harald Zagiczek and Vice-President of the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce Klaus Sagmeister awarded the best innovations of the country at the Kulturzentrum Eisenstadt on 13th November. Peischl Fahrzeugbau GmbH in Stegersbach was named overall winner.
As the oldest vehicle construction company in Austria, the transport systems specialist Peischl is constantly developing its portfolio. The new system enables to transport sliding floor semi-trailers on the road or by train if required. This comes with the advantage that general cargo such as pallets or bulk goods such as grain can be brought from A to B with a single vehicle.
The flexibility and operational capability of the vehicle is thus substantially increased. This also helps protecting the environment: if a part of the transport is done by rail, this reduces the traffic on the road and thus the CO2 emissions. This is especially important on the north-south corridor across the Brenner.
The innovation was created by the customer request of the company Nothegger Transport Logistik GmbH to develop such a solution. After examining the market opportunities, Peischl developed the craneable sliding-floor semi-trailer to the highest standards. Tested by Rail Cargo Austria AG, this is already on track in Austria.
As the overall winner of the Innovation Award Burgenland 2018, Peischl Fahrzeugbau GmbH received EUR 5,000 in prize money – sponsored by BKS Bank – and a nomination for the special prize ECONOVIUS of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and for the State Prize Innovation, Austria’s highest Austrian award for particularly innovative achievements.
