Lukoil Lubricants Europe is growing in the Port of Lobau, Vienna

For Lukoil Lubricants Europe GmbH, business runs smoothly. In 2017, sales in Vienna increased by 56 percent, the company announced in a press release.

Above all, the first-fill business with vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) developed very positively. Three large well-known car manufacturers from Germany are now served from Vienna. Throughout Western Europe, sales of premium lubricants increased by around 30 percent in 2017.

Indirect sales also increased substantially via the dealer network in 2017: sales in the Baltic States, Italy and Germany increased threefold.

“The positive sales figures show that our investments in Austria as a business location are paying off,” says Managing Director Oleg Tolochko. “Vienna is for us the bridge to other markets in Central Europe.” Therefore, Vienna will continue to expand as a hub for international activities and strengthen the business location.

Oleg Tolochko has been Managing Director of the production plants in Austria and Finland as well as the subsidiaries in Germany, Scandinavia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Italy since autumn 2016. 72 of the currently 147 employees work in Vienna.

Lukoil Lubricants acquired the lubricants business of OMV in Lobau in 2013. Since the takeover, massive investments have been made in securing the location and into technical expansion. The innovations in production formed the basis for the so-called “first fill” business in Vienna. These high-quality lubricants are produced in Lobau and distributed via the company’s own logistics chain via ship and rail.

Thanks to the positive development of the OEM first-fill business, the plant in the Port of Vienna Lobau is already operating in a two-shift operation. In Austria, Lukoil Lubricants will work with Matik, a company specializing in commercial vehicle parts and services.

Overall, Lukoil has gradually expanded its commitment in Austria in recent years. In April 2016, the new head office of Lukoil Lubricants Europe was opened in the port of Vienna Lobau. At the end of 2017, the largest financial investment in the history of Vienna-based Lukoil International GmbH was made with a capital increase of EUR 6.2 billion. The extensive investments prove to be a win-win situation for companies and business location.

The Lukoil Lubricants International Group is the international lubricant division of the largest private Russian oil company Lukoil. In addition to the production facility in Lobau, Vienna, the company also has holdings in Germany, Finland, Romania, Bulgaria, Belarus, the Ukraine, Turkey, Dubai, Kazakhstan and the USA. The parent company Lukoil maintains the largest privately owned oil reserves, thereby ensuring security of supply for all markets worldwide.
