Deutsche Telekom renews its contract with DHL Supply Chain

Deutsche Telekom has renewed its contract with DHL Supply Chain, Deutsche Post DHL Group’s contract logistics division, ahead of schedule. DHL SupplyChain provides infrastructure logistics for Telekom at the main locations in Steinfurt and Simmern, and at two other branches in Burg and Roth, and is responsible for warehousing, commissioning and the dispatch organisation of all components for network expansion.

“We are very pleased to extend our cooperation with Deutsche Telekom. For over 15 years, around 300 DHL Supply Chain employees have been supporting Deutsche Telekom with their logistics know-how in the network expansion. As a next step, we want to cooperate to digitize our processes and continue to optimise the overall processes,” explains Karsten Schwarz, CEO DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps.

The service logistics by DHL Supply Chain for Deutsche Telekom includes the warehousing and provision of various infrastructure elements. These include technical assemblies, cable drums with a diameter of up to 2.5 meters, pipes and tools.

Upon receipt of the order, the components are comissioned and sent using an intelligent freight carrier control system. Depending on the size of the consignments, transports such as courier and parcel services (CEP dispatch), piece or heavy goods transports are organised. DHL operates a national heavy-goods transport network, which consists partly of own vehicles.
