Honold and LTS, Nordenham have established a joint venture for logistical processing in the aerospace / defense sector. The 50% -joint venture invests more than EUR 14 million in Augsburg / Bavaria and will recruit 150 new employees. The client is Premium Aerotec, a company of Airbus.
In the future, logistics will be provided in a new 17,000 m² logistics facility, which wil be constructed by the client. Among other things, the joint venture will invest into a state-ot-the-art automated container storage facilities of the Austrian manufacturer TGW. The logistics department will take care of the production supply (just-in-sequence), in-house factory logistics as well as the provision for the distribution to the European works of the client.
The project places the highest demands on quality and reliability. The two medium-sized companies have already been operating in the aerospace business on behalf of aviation and defense customers. Both shareholders are owner-managed, family-owned companies and have been operating at the Augsburg location for many years.
With around 4,000 employees working in four divisions, the Augsburg site is one of the world’s largest suppliers of large components for Airbus. The portfolio includes the manufacturing and assembly of fuselage parts and structural components for civil and military aircraft programs.
The core business of Honold is the development of logistics real estate, logistics and transportation. Honold has 1,200 employees at 22 locations with over 750,000 m², and invested over EUR 35 million into logistics in 2016.
