The Militzer & Münch group offers a new product on the route from China to Central Asia: A block train for containers is linking Xuzhou in East China to the Uzbek capital Tashkent. The company is thus responding to the increased demand for services between these countries.
In January, the first and second of a total of three transportations for an industrial project in Uzbekistan left China. On board the block trains were 92 20-foot-containers carrying steel coils with a total cargo weight of 2,500 tonnes per train. The third transportation is scheduled for the second half of February 2017.
Militzer & Münch handles these transportations in close cooperation with its sister company InterRail. Each shipment takes 10 to 12 days from Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province to Tashkent.
“It is our target to expand the presence of Militzer & Münch in China and Central Asia”, says Glenn Bai, Managing Director China. “For 2017, we are planning to strengthen our project segment as well as to develop transport services to such countries as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.” Central Asia plays a significant role as a transit region between China and Europe. In the past few years, the trade volume with this region has been growing considerably. Since 2013, China is considered the most important trade partner of the Central Asian countries.
The Militzer & Münch group has some 2,000 employees at 100 locations in about 30 countries.
