DPD, the international parcel and express provider, and Metro Logistics together celebrate a jubilee, that is even rare in the high-volume parcel business: DPD has carried 250 million parcels on behalf of the Metro Group since the start of their cooperation in 1996.
Armin Köller, Managing Director Metro Logistics, received the 250 millionth parcel personally from Boris Winkelmann, CEO DPD. On behalf of Metro Logistics, DPD is mainly operating in the segment of procurement
logistics: From many shippers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Benelux, DPD supplies about 1,200 locations of the Metro Group in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
“DPD is an important partner for us, who is driving from A to B for us but can also handle complex logistic tasks – particularly in procurement logistics“, says Armin Köller, together with Rolf Knieps Managing Directors of Metro Logistics. “We are proud of being active for a major trade group for a long time. To us 250 million transported parcels mean a sign of confidence, which will want to meet also in the future.“ adds Boris Winkelmann.
Apart from procurement logistics DPD is also providing distribution logistics services on behalf of the Metro Group branches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland – nationally and throughout Europe. Also in the expanding B2C segment DPD is operating on behalf of the Metro Group – e.g. as a shipment partner of Real online.
