From May until probably the beginning of August, a Liebherr LR 1600/2 crawler crane from the company Schmidbauer will be on site at BLG AutoTerminal Bremerhaven. It is there for special project loading. With the current configuration, the crane can lift weights of up to 600 tonnes. The BLG High & Heavy team will use the LR 1600 among other things to load a 333-tonne turbine from the quay onto a barge.

At the beginning of May, the dismantled crane was delivered to Bremerhaven on 35 trucks over a period of three days. Working together, personnel from Schmidbauer and BLG assembled the individual parts within two days. The pressure applied by the crane to the ground depends on the configuration, the weight of the load, and the working radius. The load-carrying capacity of the ground was calculated in advance.

On May 6, BLG used the crawler crane to lift a 226-tonne generator out of a barge. Just a few days later, a BLG SPMT transferred the generator onto a car carrier and it departed for Australia.
