With effect from December 2015, the Maersk and MSC – Alliance (2M) implemented a new direct call to Yokohama on their AE12/Phoenix Far East service from Trieste. With a transit time of 37 days in export, the new connection finally offers a competitive and valuable solution for cargo bound to Japan in addition to the traditional Japanese calls.
In Trieste, the weekly service is directly linked to the departures and arrivals of the intermodal services to/from Germany, Hungary and Austria in order to provide an optimized total transit time solution for the respective markets of reference.
Trieste Marine Terminal is the only specialized container terminal in Trieste, providing professional port handlings, storage, CFS activities and intermodal services for containers in the North Adriatic Sea. The peculiar strategic geographical position of Trieste, in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, makes it a cost effective gateway for traffics to and from Central/Eastern Italy and Central/Eastern European countries, from South Germany to Austria, from Hungary to Czech Republic and Slovakia.
